Golf betting tips: Preview and tips for the 2022 Bermuda Championship Championship
The Bermuda Championship debuted on Tour in late 2019 as part of the 2019-2020 season. The event was originally designated as an alternate event, opposite the WGC-HSBC Champions. However, because of successive cancellations of the WGC-HSBC Champions due to COVID, the tournament was elevated to full FedEx Cup point event status.
The tournament is played at the Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda. As a full-field tournament offering full FedEx Cup points, the winner will also receive an invitation to the Masters.
Bermuda Championship Past Champions
|2020||Brian Gay||United States||269||-15|
|2019||Brendon Todd||United States||260||-24|
The host course, Port Royal Golf Club, is a 6,828 yard Par 71 which opened for play in 1970. The Robert Trent Jones designed course is located in Southampton, Bermuda along the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Its coastal location means that it is hit by all the elements and scoring is ultimately dictated by wind levels.
If the wind gets up it will suit the more patient, experienced players. Key this week will be course management and an ability to move the ball both ways if the wind gets up. With such a diverse terrain, missing fairways around Port Royal can be costly.
Greens in regulation is key, a task made more difficult if the wind becomes a factor. The average winning score is -18 so a fast start is important.

This week’s Bermuda Championship, although offering up full FedEx Cup points to the winner, still has the look and feel of an ‘alternate event’.
Despite the event’s elevated status there is no surprise to see such a weakened field. However, with a weakened field comes opportunity. An opportunity for someone to step up to the plate for a career changing win.
This week’s Bermuda Championship has ‘lottery’ written all over it.
Bermuda Championship Tips & Predictions
Nick Hardy 28/1 (E/W) – second look at Port Royal for the 26-year-old, missing the cut last year on his debut appearance. A T44 in his last outing at the Shriners Children’s Open was preceded with an eye-catching T5 in the Sanderson Farms Championship. His solid play is reflected in his stats, placing just inside the Top 10 in this week’s Stats Analysis. Absence of tournament form is mitigated by other compelling arguments. Current Form and skill-set coupled with field strength makes the Illinois native hard to ignore. Good each way value.
