Wells Fargo Championship Betting Tips

Wells Fargo Championship betting tips & predictionsWells Fargo Championship betting tips & predictions – the Wells Fargo Championship is held each year in North Carolina. It debuted in 2003 as the Wachovia Championship and was known in 2009 and 2010 as the Quail Hollow Championship.

The event is sponsored by Wells Fargo which purchased Wachovia in 2008.

This year the tournament returns to its spiritual home of Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 2017 edition of the tournament was played at Eagle Point Golf Course as Quail Hollow played host to the 2017 PGA Championship. The Presidents Cup is scheduled to be played here in 2021.

Quail Hollow was originally designed by golf course architect George Cobb in 1961. It hosted the Kemper Open from 1969 through 1979, the PaineWebber Invitational from 1983 through 1989 and has hosted the Wells Fargo Championship on a near continuous basis since it debuted in 2003.

The course underwent a series of modifications of several holes by Arnold Palmer in 1986 and a redesign by Tom Fazio in 1997 and 2003. Quail Hollow is a quality venue and a demanding test of golf. Annually it ranks as one of the most difficult Par 72s in a non-major.

Following the 2013 tournament the bentgrass greens were replaced with ultradwarf Bermuda grass which is weather tolerant and ideal for championship designs. Quail Hollow has one of the toughest finishes on tour with holes 16, 17, and 18 commonly known as the “Green Mile“. It is a Par 4-3-4 finish that annually ranks among the PGA Tour’s hardest holes.

Driving Accuracy and Par 5 Performance are key statistics around Quail Hollow and hitting the 6,500-square foot greens is about the easiest test on the course. The course ranks as one of the most difficult in Proximity to Hole and key stats will include Three-Putt Avoidance and Scrambling.

In last year’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, a 24 year old Justin Thomas emerged victorious to capture his first major title. There were numerous players in the mix come the ‘back-9’ on Sunday but Thomas edged in front by chipping in for Birdie from 40 feet on the Par 3 13th. He went on to hold his nerve down the stretch as his challengers faded.

Thomas finished on a score of -8 (276) for his fourth victory of the year. He ended the week 11th in Strokes Gained Tee-To-Green and backed up his superb ball-striking with his flat-stick, finishing the week 4th in Strokes Gained Putting. For the tournament he was 1st in Driving Distance, T62 for Driving Accuracy, T17 for GIR and 2nd in Putts per GIR.

Wells Fargo Championship Betting Tips 2018

Rory McIlroy golf betting tipsRory mcIlroy 8/1 (Win) – a two-time champion at Quail Hollow he also has another 4 x Top 10’s and holds the course record (61). A T5 in the Masters was prefaced with a victory in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. No real surprise that the supremely talented Northern Irishman features inside the Top 10 in this week’s Stats Analysis. Not often does the same player occupy top spot for both Event Form and Current Form in the same week, so it demands serious attention. No questioning his golfing prowess but with the strength of this week’s field it well tell a lot about where he’s head is at after Augusta. If the ’15th-club’ is right he could blow the field away like 2015.
Webb Simpson golf betting tipsWebb Simpson 35/1 (E/W) – the Charlotte resident and Quail Hollow member is a regular at the Wells Fargo. His best finish is a T2 in 2015, topping the field that year for Driving Accuracy. His Current Form is solid this season with 7 x Top 25’s from 12 starts which includes a T5 in his last outing at the RBC Heritage. Tops this week’s Stats Analysis which is no mean feat considering the depth and quality of this week’s line-up. The marked improvement in his putting stats is beginning to reap rewards and showing in his results. Form and skill-set make him a perfect fit for this week.
